THIS ISSUE - AUTUMN 2007 On Sale - Thursday, 19 July 2007

As the only magazine dedicated to diesel and electric era modelling, we always endeavour to provide the best coverage and inspiration we possibly can. The summer 2007 issue of Modern Railway Modelling continues to do this with articles on locomotives, layout construction, motive power depots, wagons and rollingstock together with a great deal of prototype inspiration.

It's 50 years since the Class 20 first took to the rails, yet they remain in traffic and continue to find daily service on today's rail network. David Brown remarks on this achievement in his editorial column and we commemorates this remarkable milestone with an article on the construction of the 7mm scale Class 20 kit by Tower Models.

Modern motive power enthusiasts are not left out because we feature articles on the prototype Class 57 and how to spruce up a Hornby Class 60 with oodles of dirt to create a dirty, run-of-the-mill 'Donut'. N gauge modellers are not left out because we feature an article on the construction and finishing of the recently released C-Rail Intermodal PFA kit.

Our cover story this issue is Oulton TMD, a 4mm scale DCC layout featuring locomotives working lights and a great deal of modern scenic treatment including a refuelling point and other related industry.

We continue to offer the most comprehensive reviews on new products, including our unsurpassed performance testing regime which is one of the toughest around. If a model performs well in 'LocoTest', it should perform well on your layout. Our LocoTest 'victim' for this issue is the new ViTrains Class 37 model which was put through its paces on our test rigs. You will need to buy the magazine to find out how well it performed. Does it live up to the performance of real 'Tractors'?
